Saturday!

Last Saturday at this time we were just getting ready to leave for the airport to pick up Mikayla from her 3 week volunteer trip to Guatemala. I was getting the jittery excitement feeling, hurrying up so we wouldn't be late at the airport. Mikayla did not hurry off the plane. She strolled off. Of course, we couldn't meet her at the gate, but she emerged as probably one of the last from her flight. I could see her swinging her arms, dressed in a new Guatemalan skirt, looking around, not for us, just taking in her familiar surroundings of her home airport. When she spotted us, she smiled big, but not hurried into our embrace. The last hug I gave her when she left for her trip was hugging an excited teenage girl. This time, I hugged a young woman. Mikayla was full of life-changing experiences and adventures that I was not at all part of, that she had created completely on her own.
